PLACES TO VISIT IN LACHEN
GURUDONGMAR LAKE
Gurudongmar Lake, considered sacred by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus, is one of the world's highest lakes. Glaciers from the Kanchengyao mountain range feed the freshwater lake. It is home to yaks, musk deer, mountain goats, and blue sheep, to name a few. The water is crystal clear, and the bed is visible from the centre of the lake.

LACHEN MONASTERY
Lachen Monastery was founded in 1858 as a Nyingma Buddhist monastery. It is an excellent example of Tibetan architecture, and the residents practise Tibetan Buddhism. Prayer mats, wheels, and colourful flags adorn the premises. Thangu Village's residents are friendly, and one may spend hours talking with them about the religion and geography of the area.
It is a must-see for travellers seeking to discover Lachen, as it is set picturesquely amidst the mountains en route to Gurudogmar Lake.
CHOPTA VALLEY
The valley is surrounded by snow-capped mountains that provide a spectacular perspective of the valley below. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Lachen. While travelling here, one may readily notice a vast range of animals and birds. Adventurers from all over the world travel to capture the beautiful flora and fauna of the mountains, while others can just hire a taxi for sightseeing the splendour of nature.
KALA PATTHAR
The highest point that can be reached without a climbing permit is Kala Patthar. The black rocks juxtapose with the snow-covered Himalayas. The site offers a vista of Mount Everest and is a host to world's highest webcam called as the 'Mount Everest Cam'. It is a part of the Chopta Valley, Gurudongmar Lake, and Kala Patthar treks and provides a stunning view of Mount Everest.
