Gohpur is a town and the administrative centre of the Gohpur sub-division in the Biswanath district of the Indian state of Assam. It is an Assamese historical site where the legendary freedom fighter Kanaklata Barua was born. Gohpur can be found at 26.88°N 93.63°E. Gohpur is also connected to Itanagar, the state capital of Arunachal Pradesh, by NH 15. Itanagar is about 31 kilometres away from Gohpur by NH 52A. It also has tiny ships that go over the Brahmaputra to Majuli and Jorhat. Gohpur has a higher literacy rate than the national average of 59.5%, with male literacy at 77% and female literacy at 66%.
