PLACES TO VISIT IN NAMCHI
MAENAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Known around the world for its exclusive collection of rare flora and fauna, Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most prized possessions of Namchi. Located very close to our hotel in Namchi, this wildlife wonder can only be accessed with prior permission from the forest department which can be arranged.
RALANG MONASTERY
Perched on one of the most beautiful destinations in Namchi, the Ralang Monastery is as important as it is old. The monastery is a holy spot for thousands of pilgrims who follow the religion of Buddhism. The monastery has many inmates who will help you to get in touch with your inner self and provide a nurturing experience.
SHIRDI SAI BABA MANDIR & PILGRIMAGE CENTRE
Located at Asangthang, Namchi, this is the first Sai Baba temple in the whole of Sikkim. It was built by the Shirdi Sai Baba Trust of South Sikkim under the patronage of the Government of Sikkim Tourism.
SAMDRUPSTE HILL
Samdrupste Hill translates to 'Wish Fulfilling Hill' and offers just the same. Situated at an altitude of 7000 ft., this magnificent hill is made impeccable with the giant statue of the patron saint of Sikkim Guru Padmasambhava commonly known as Guru Rinpoche. The cultural importance of this site alone makes this a must-visit spot.
SOLOPHOK CHARDHAM
Undoubtedly the most popular and the best tourist attraction in Namchi. It is located on a hilltop and about 5 km from the town centre.
SAMDRUPSTE MONASTERY
Samdrupste Monastery is situated about 7 km from Namchi town and up on Samdruptse hill. Before Char Dham, this used to be the main attraction of Namchi, it is still very popular among tourists though.
NAMCHI HELIPAD
The area is a wonderful open space with a large roundabout. The road from here goes towards Namchi town which is about 5 km away. Helicopter service is available between Bagdogra and Namchi every Thursday. Keeping the helipad on your left, look up on your right and you can see the large statue of Lord Shiva (Char Dham).
NAMCHI ROCK GARDEN
The landscaped garden below is quite beautiful. There are water bodies, a gazebo, tiny arched bridges over lily pools, many different rare flowers and plantations, slides and swings for children, and benches to relax & soak in the views - all make a wonderful experience.
BUDDHA PARK IN RAVANGLA
Also known as Tathagata Tsal, 30 km from Namchi town. Spread over 23 acres of area this parkland has a towering sitting statue of Buddha which is 137 ft. 22 in” tall. The face of the statue is coated with 3.5 kg of gold. It is the tallest metal statue of Buddha in the world.
